For something warm and filling that reliably lands under fifteen, Mysttik Masaala is my go-to. You will find their Midtown stalls in the Urbanspace food markets around the neighborhood, plus a spot inside the market at 152 West 52nd Street, generally open weekdays for lunch and closed on weekends. Naan rolls stuffed with paneer or chicken, samosas, and biryani and curry platters over basmati rice, all built for the office-lunch price bracket. A rice platter or a couple of naan rolls will run you well under fifteen and leave you genuinely full, which is more than I can say for a lot of Midtown lunches at twice the price.
My pick is a chicken tikka naan roll, which is portable, gloriously messy, and easy to eat one-handed while walking back to a meeting you are now late for. The heat is real but not punishing. Ask for extra green chutney and thank me later.
The catch. Because it lives inside a food market, the weekend and evening hours are limited, so this is strictly a weekday lunch play. Check before you trek over on a Sunday. I have made that sad walk. Do not be me.
