Aptly named, Filé Gumbo Bar specializes in gumbo, an aromatic Creole stew made with thickened stock and meat or shellfish. At Filé, the signature gumbo is based on a dark roux meticulously made with duck. And chicken fat, from there you can choose one of nine variations (chicken, andouille sausage, shrimp, and crab or a combo thereof).
All this to say, ordering a proper bowl of gumbo non-negotiable. But, let’s talk about the brunch fare too. In addition to Gumbo, you’ll find perfected southern comfort food like made-to-order beignets, pillowy buttermilk pancakes and creamy country grits. If you’re craving southern brunch in Tribeca, Filé gets my vote.
