The Met rooftop is free with museum admission ($30 for adults, pay-what-you-wish for NY residents). You get Central Park sprawling out below you in one direction and the skyline punching up in the other. There’s usually an art installation up there too. The whole thing feels like a secret even though it absolutely isn’t.

Go on a weekday afternoon. Weekends get packed. Grab a drink from the cart, find a spot along the edge, and remind yourself that you live in the greatest city on earth. Or that you’re visiting it. Either way.
