A wonderfully ornate Victorian-themed bar and restaurant, all dark wood and antique chandeliers, and the reason it makes this list is a quirky one. Their weekday lunch special comes with a complimentary glass of wine or a draft beer, which is about as good as a midday Midtown deal gets.
It is touristy given the location, that is the honest truth, but the room is genuinely fun and the deal is real. A smart pre-matinee stop, and a good place to land if you are wandering near Times Square and want somewhere with character.
If you’d like to follow suit, I suggest Oscar Wilde, Serra by Birreria and Lillie’s Victorian Establishment.
Aptly named, Lillie’s Victorian Establishment is an ornate Victorian-era restaurant completely decked out during the holidays. Think shiny garlands, life-sized nutcrackers, and decorated Christmas trees. As for food, expect to find everything from classic pub favorites like cheeseburgers and chicken wings to more refined dishes like ceviche and tartar.
