For seamless ticketing, skip the booths and opt for the NYC Ferry app, where you can purchase tickets, scan a QR code to board, and access helpful maps.

Catching the city skyline from a ferry in general is pretty epic, but at night. well, it’s unforgettable. The ferry is an extension of the city’s public transportation network, so the fare is affordable ($4 per person). One of my favorite New York City experiences with out of town guests is taking the ferry from DUMBO to Wall Street.
It’s a quick 5-minute ride, but it offers breathtaking views of Manhattan’s skyline from the water. In my mind, it’s one of the best things to do in New York City on a budget, especially with kids. There’s something special about being on the water, even more so when you’re in the Big Apple.

The NYC ferry is a true crowd-pleaser and a great way to rest your legs while taking in the epic skyline of the Big Apple. And since the NYC Ferry is part of the public transportation network, rides are only $4.00 per person.
Kids will love it as much as adults. I take all my out-of-town visitors on the ferry and folks rave about it for years after, it’s very memorable!
