What do Thomas Edison, Teddy Roosevelt and Bob Dylan have in common? They all patronized the Paris Cafe. Opened in 1873, this one of the oldest restaurants in New York City, reason alone to visit. The brunch menu emphasizes brasserie classics like steak au poivre, beet and goat cheese salad and croque monsieur.
In keeping up with the time, The Paris Cafe expanded the menu to include classic American fare as well, like eggs Benedict, French toast, burgers and avocado toast. Dine like a Parisian or stay the course with beloved American grub, the only non-negotiable at this Financial District brunch haunt is starting with fresh baked baguettes (served with whipped butter).
Unpopular opinion. Controversial take. Eggs benedict is the most overrated brunch dish in existence. Order something creative instead.
