After calling this city home for years, I’ve built up a collection of go-to spots and experiences that I return to again and again. This guide is my way of passing that knowledge along to you, whether you’re planning your first trip or your fiftieth. Every tip below comes straight from my own experience.

I moved to New York City in the spring, so this particular season has a very special place in my heart. Every year, like clockwork, the bursts of blooms serve as a reminder that warmer days are just around the corner.

  1. Brooklyn Botanic GardenPark · BrooklynIn spring, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden becomes a breathtaking sea of pink and white as the famous cherry blossoms reach full bloom.
  2. Central ParkPark · Central Park
  3. Green-Wood CemeteryLandmark · Greenwood Heights, BrooklynI know some folks might consider a cemetery as a place to see cherry blossoms a morbid thought, but this peaceful place is hard to beat.
  4. Roosevelt IslandPark · Roosevelt IslandThe trees along the waterfront create a stunning canopy of blooms.
  5. Washington Square ParkPark · Greenwich VillageThere's really no bad time to visit New York's premier people-watching park, but spring is especially memorable.
  6. Hunter's Point South ParkPark · Long Island City, QueensThe folks who designed the park did a great job of planting rows of Yoshino trees near the water, which has turned this into a fantastic place to see cherry blossoms in NYC.
  7. New York Botanical GardenPark · BronxThe New York Botanical Garden is worth visiting for plant lovers year-round, but especially so in spring.
  8. Riverside ParkPark · Upper West Side / ManhattanThis also one of the best spots to see cherry blossoms in New York City, particularly a 4-mile stretch from 100th to 125th Street (referred to as “Cherry Walk”).
