The Best of New York · Drink · Coffee

The best coffee shops in Chelsea.

Every one from my own visits, updated September 2026. 13 places.

I’m convinced the most important part of exploring a new neighborhood is starting with that choice cup of coffee and with a neighborhood as lively and vibrant as Chelsea, competition is steep. When it comes to coffee in Chelsea, I’m incredibly picky, so trust me when I say these spots deliver. Everyone claims to be the best, but let’s be real – without taking out a personal loan, there’s no way any person can afford to try it all.

Lucky for you, I’ve lived in New York City for years and constantly find myself meandering my way back to Chelsea to “just try one more spot.” So, over the years, I’ve created a list of the best coffee shops in Chelsea to help anyone searching for a great cup of coffee.

The seal

If you're on this list, this is yours.

I went, and I said in my own words that it's worth your time. Nobody paid for that and nobody can. The seal says so, and it links back here, so anyone who sees it reads the whole list and how I decide.

Put it on your site, in the window, on the menu. Keep it linked when it's on the web and keep the words on it. That's the whole ask.

The code. Paste it where the seal should sit.
