The best Greek food in Astoria.
Every one from my own visits, updated September 2026. 8 places.
Astoria ruined me for Greek food everywhere else, and I mean that as a compliment to Astoria and a genuine problem for me. I know that sounds dramatic. It is not. Over six years of living in New York I ate my way across that neighborhood again and again, and once you have had a whole grilled fish off Ditmars Boulevard on a warm night, with the RFK Bridge glowing behind the rooftops, a sad tavern salad from a chain in a strip mall becomes a personal insult.
My husband and I made the trip out to Astoria constantly. It is a fifteen-minute ride on the N or W from Midtown and it might as well be a different country. This is the largest Greek community outside of Greece, and the food shows it. Not the glossy, olive-oil-drizzled version of Greek that Manhattan sells for triple the price. The real thing. Charred octopus, lemon potatoes, cheese that arrives on fire.
