Some of my best meals in New York have happened after midnight. There’s something about stumbling out of a bar at 2am and finding a place that’s still turning out incredible food that makes this city feel like nowhere else on earth. I’ve spent years mapping out the best late-night food in NYC so I always know exactly where to go when hunger hits and the clock says it’s way too late to be this hungry.

I’ve eaten more late-night food spots than I care to admit. These are the spots that actually deserve the hype.

  1. Corner BistroRestaurant · West VillageCorner Bistro, a West Village institution for 50 years, is celebrated by locals for its iconic burgers.
  2. Halal GuysRestaurant · Central ParkA quintessential cheap eat in the city, I can’t envision NYC without them.
  3. JG MelonRestaurant · Upper East SideTheir burger is a no-frills masterpiece with a juicy, loosely packed patty on a soft bun, and the cottage fries are the ideal salty sidekick.
  4. Pizza ShopsRestaurantUndoubtedly, the ultimate late-night food in NYC is a classic, greasy slice of pizza, and luckily, exceptional pies are abundant across the city.
  5. Ray’s CandystoreOther · East VillageOpen 24/7 since 1974, this tiny shop offers a variety of treats, but its fame lies in its delicious egg creams and fried Oreos.
  6. VeselkaRestaurant · East VillageVeselka has been feeding the East Village since 1954, and their pierogies and borscht taste just as good at 11pm as they do at noon.
  7. Adel’s Famous Halal FoodRestaurant · MidtownAdel’s Famous Halal, a food cart open since 1987, serves some of the best late-night food in NYC.
  8. Blue Ribbon BrasserieRestaurant · SoHoSince 1992, Blue Ribbon has been a popular late-night food choice in NYC for locals and, ironically, chefs.
  9. CoppeliaRestaurant · ChelseaCoppelia in Chelsea stands out as one of NYC’s best late-night food spots, open 24/7 since 2011.
  10. Empanada MamaRestaurant · Hell’s KitchenOffering over 40 flavors, including plant-based options, there’s something for everyone at Empanada Mama.
  11. Katz DeliRestaurant · Lower East SideLeaving Katz Deli off the best late-night NYC food list is unforgivable.
