Bar Pisellino
Arguably the most authentic espresso bar you’ll find this side of the Atlantic, Bar Pisellino is a place you need to try for those in search of the cutest cafes in the West Village. A personal favorite, my husband I are frequent fliers at this cozy joint.
I love the espressos and take them at the counter before heading out to explore the neighborhood. Sometimes we swing by for apéro. Longtime readers know Bar Pisellino is a staple in my West Village arsenal, can’t recommend it enough!

Travelers Poets & Friends
Run by an endearing Italian sporting a melodic accent, Travelers Poets & Friends was recommended to me by a fellow reader. Jack of all trades, Travelers Poets & Friends is a cafe, bakery, restaurant and Italian marketplace doling out fresh baked goods. Handmade pasta (you can watch it being made in the window), incredible focaccia and some of the best coffee in the West Village.
My husband I paid them a visit on Sunday and knew we were in good hands when we heard the maestro behind the espresso machine call out orders with a delicious Italian accent. We opted for our tried-and-true Americanos and tossed in a maritozzi (light Italian buns filled with fresh whipped cream) because it was too tempting to pass up.
The maritozzi reminded me of the ones we had in Rome last summer, I was so impressed. As for the americano? Exceeded expectations, it was excellent. After the visit, Travelers Poets & Friends was promptly added to our West Village arsenal, it’s a true neighborhood gem you don’t want to miss.

The smallest coffee shop in the West Village, Fellini is a popular neighborhood haunt. Order your coffee at the walk. The coffee is excellent, but there’s one unusual drink worth calling out, the protein-ccino (cappuccino with 20 grams of protein). It flies under the radar and I kind of love that about it.

Joe’s Coffee
Situated on a scenic corner between Waverly Place and Gay Street, Joe’s is the quintessential neighborhood coffee shop. You’ll find Joe’s all over the city (there’s 25 outposts now), but the West Village cafe is the original location.
The endearing vibes alone warrant a visit, but thankfully the coffee is top-notch. Joe’s serves some of the strongest drip coffee in the West Village, making it an easy morning habit for locals. There’s ample indoor and outdoor seating and the cafe stays open until 8pm, it’s the perfect place to retreat for some respite before dinner.

Stumptown Coffee
Stumptown Coffee has locations all over the country, but not without reason. Hailing from the Pacific Northwest, Stumptown. They have a few cafes in NYC, but the Greenwich Village outpost is my favorite. Pro tip. Come on a weekday to avoid the crowds, weekends here can get hectic. The menu isn’t enormous, but everything on it is done well, which I always prefer over a place that tries to do too much and nails nothing.

Unpopular opinion. Hot take. You don’t need to spend $7 on a latte to get great coffee in West Village.

Café Kitsuné might be the most well-known cafe in the West Village, which is a bit strange when considering Kitsuné is a French clothing brand first and foremost. But hey, if you can make a mean matcha, who am I to ask for your resumé?
There’s plenty of seating at the cafe, but laptops are prohibited inside (allowed outside). If you’re looking to shake things up try the Black and White Latte, an exclusive NYC drink inspired by the iconic New York cookie. Speaking of cookies, don’t sleep on the incredible fox cookie.

Cafe Reggio is the most iconic cafe in Greenwich Village. Opened in 1927, this bohemian establishment is credited with introducing the cappuccino to America.
Charming to the max, the interior is full of interesting paintings dating back to the Italian renaissance and a bench that belonged to the Medici family (a prominent Italian political family that produced four Popes).
Caffe Reggio is also a full-fledged restaurant with breakfast, lunch and dinner service. But at its core it’s famous for one thing.cappuccino, a must-order at this iconic West Village cafe.

The Elk is a cafe moonlighting as a general store. Or maybe it’s the other way around? It’s hard to tell, but one thing is certain, the coffee is worth a detour. Founded by a Vancouver BC Canada native, Claire Chan, the decor is inspired by her Pacific Northwest roots, inviting the outdoors in.
The cafe relies on Parlor Coffee (Brooklyn-based roasters) for expert espresso extractions and creative drinks. There’s also a few healthy bites on offer if you’re feeling peckish during your visit. As for the shop? You’ll find an interesting mishmash of home, wellness and lifestyle items to peruse.

Part-cafe, part-plant shop, the abundance of plants earns Rosecrans a spot on our list of the most beautiful cafes in Greenwich Village. Most of the tables are taken during the morning hours, but that’s okay since you can drink your coffee. While admiring the plants and flowers available for purchase (my favorite pastime is gawking at the prices). There’s a charming old-school New York feel to this place that I absolutely love, it feels like stepping back in time.

Sometimes I don’t feel cool enough for Do Not Feed the Alligators, but I test my luck anyways. Brewing single origin beans from small local roasters, this chic West Village coffee shop makes expert pour-overs and espresso-forward drinks.
Warm and inviting, the put together corner bookstore adds a touch of intrigue. Come evening, the lights dim, the. Laptops aren’t allowed, which makes it a great spot to catch up with a friend.

Jack’s Stir Brew Coffee dates back to 2003 when Jack Mazzola opened a small cafe in the hopes of serving his community. Relying on organic coffee, Jack’s Coffee grew to a handful of locations throughout the city (serving 50,000 people a week on average).
Jack’s was the first NYC coffee house to serve ethically sourced, shade-grown organic coffee exclusively. Jack had been working directly with farmers and purveyors way before it became the industry standard.
