Worth it

  • From my guide, updated January 2024.

For the ultimate vegan brunch experience in NYC, Ladybird is a must-visit, perfectly posh with a touch of pink. This tapas bar not only serves delectable plant-based dishes but also boasts drinks worth the trip alone.

Adorned with velvet seats, gold accents, and abundant flowers, Ladybird stands out as one of NYC’s cutest vegan spots. The immaculate vibe often leads to the “one more drink” game with friends. Food options rotate constantly since the cuisine relies heavily on in-season produce, but the maitake buns are a must-try.

Locals Tip: Make sure to swing by the bathroom before leaving. If there was an award for prettiest bathrooms in NYC, Ladybird would no doubt be a contender!

Worth it

Perfectly posh, Ladybird is a popular vegan restaurant perfect for a girls brunch in the East Village, regardless of dietary restrictions. Food options rotate constantly because the cuisine relies heavily on in-season produce.

The BEC Buns (steamed bao bun, scrambled just egg, parmesan, mushroom bacon, chipotle aioli, cilantro crema) are a must-try, as are the chikin n’ waffles (oyster mushroom, chives, maple syrup, whipped cream).

The decor strikes that sweet spot between cozy and modern, and there’s always good music playing at just the right volume. If you’re feeling adventurous, ask the staff for their personal recommendation, they always steer you toward something great.
