Loreley on Rivington Street is a German beer garden with a big outdoor space, which in this neighborhood is basically a miracle. $5 beers during happy hour.

The pretzels are solid, the beer list is long, and there’s enough room that you don’t have to do that weird sideways shuffle past strangers thing. In the summer this place is packed, but the rest of the year you can usually grab a table outside without a fight.

One downside. Service can be slow when it’s busy. But you’re drinking $5 beers in the sun, so honestly who cares.

In October, finding delicious pumpkin beer in NYC is a breeze, but Loreley Beer Garden takes it up a notch with a Pumpkin Keg! Starting in late September you can gather your pals and dive into a 60 oz Pumpkin Keg, complete with a beer tap — pouring 4-5 glasses of pumpkin beer magic.

I’m partial to the bar’s signature Boozy Black & White Hot Chocolate, but my husband prefers the Spiked Eggnog.
