The Malt House is known for a put together selection of 250 American whiskies and impressive lineup of drafts. Inviting and polished, this my top recommendation when people ask where to grab lunch in the Financial District with coworkers. Salads, tacos, burgers and tartar, the menu is replete with step up pub fare.
But it’s the American Tavern Burger that takes center stage (cheddar, bacon, onion jam, garlic aioli, lettuce and pickles served on brioche bun). If you’re letting your hair down, opt for the showstopping El Capitan burger instead (two prime dry aged 4oz patties, smoked bacon bites, cheese, charred red onions, garlic aioli).
The Malt House is a prime destination for boozy brunches in the Financial District. With the purchase of an entree, you’ll get 90 minutes of bottomless cocktails like mimosas, sangria and maltmosa (wheat beer, champagne, and orange juice) for $25.
As for food, the crab cake Benedict (panko-breaded crab cake, salsa, poached gggs, béarnaise) is my go-to order. But if sweet brunch is more your speed, the sticky toffee pancakes (strawberry-vanilla compote, walnut & chocolate crumble, toffee sauce, and maple butter) might be the move.

Offering more than eight draft beers for $8 a pop, there’s also a handful of $9 cocktails to boot. Likewise, the food menu is one. I’m partial to the fried bites (surprise, surprise) like panko fried cheese curds and buttermilk fried chicken. The pork sliders and wings are great too though.
