The million dollar question, “is the Museum of Ice Cream worth it?”. our answer; yes and no. It really boils down to who you’re visiting the museum with, kids or adults? If the answer is kids, then yes the Museum of Ice Cream is easily one of the best museums in NYC with little kids.
The free ice cream samples, sprinkle pool and giant slide are hands-down going to get grins from your little. But if your kids are a bit older and not into the whole Instagram, photo-taking opportunities you will leave underwhelmed and disappointed.
My two cents is if your kids are small and ice cream is their second language, consider this one of the best museums in NYC for kids. But if your kids are 14+ you’re better off checking out a different museum.
The Museum of Ice Cream is pure, unfiltered fun for kids. It’s part interactive exhibit, part sugar rush, and part childhood dream. You move through bright, playful rooms like a giant sprinkle pool and a banana jungle, sampling different flavors of ice cream along the way. It’s designed to be photographed, but it also manages to feel fun for younger kids.
I went with low expectations and left having a great time. It’s a great choice if you’re in the mood for something lighthearted, colorful, and a little over-the-top. The experience takes between an hour or two, and tickets are available online.

You’ll learn all about the world of ice cream through colorful exhibits. The star of the show is a toss up between the 3-story slide (longest indoor slide in NYC) and the sprinkles pool. Within the museum there’s more fun exhibits like a bouncing area, swings, an ice-cream themed subway car, and more. With so much to explore (and a chance to sample ice cream, hello) this easily one of the best it.
The Museum of Ice Cream is a sensory explosion of pink, sugar, and Instagram-ready setups. But if your kids are younger and still firmly in their sprinkles-and-slides era, this place is going to be a hit. There are interactive installations, a pool of fake sprinkles, and actual ice cream tastings throughout the visit. It’s not a museum in the traditional sense, but it’s probably one of the most memorable experiences for kids visiting New York City.
