There are several entrances to the zoo, but for stroller-users, I recommend entering through the Southern Boulevard Gate or Asia Gate.

For anyone visiting The Bronx with kiddos, one of the best things to do in the area is to spend the day at The Bronx Zoo. Clocking in at 256 acres, The Bronx Zoo is the largest metropolitan zoo in the country. Reason alone to visit!

Between the plethora of exhibits, events, and experiences, there’s no shortage of exciting things to do when visiting the zoo. Tickets for adults are currently $37.95 and $28.75 for kids. But I’m going to let you in on a little secret! On Wednesdays, the zoo offers discounted tickets; all you have to do is book them in advance online.

Not feeling the love? Here’s Plan B. The Name a Roach program at the Bronx Zoo is a great way to get even with an ex on Valentine’s Day. For only $15 you can name a Madagascar hissing cockroach and get an official certificate from the zoo.

The fun doesn’t stop there, the zoo also offers a Roach Romance package. The unique experience covers the role insects play in the chocolate making process and ends with chocolate and wine.

For only $15 you can name a Madagascar hissing cockroach after your ex (or Valentine) and get a certificate to remember the day. Some folks have made the NYC Valentine’s Day event a tradition, and the trend has spread to zoos across the country.

The Bronx Zoo also offers a Roach Romance package if you’re looking for an extra-memorable way to celebrate Valentine’s Day in NYC. With the package you and your valentine will get to enjoy an after-hours experience learning about the role insects play in making chocolate. Afterwards you’ll get to sample sustainably made chocolates as well as drink a glass of wine.
