I’ve lived in Brooklyn long enough to have opinions about coffee. Strong ones. And I’ve wasted enough mornings at places that look amazing on Instagram but serve you a $7 oat milk latte that tastes like warm dishwater.

So here’s the deal. These are my actual morning spots. The places I go back to, not the ones I visited once for a photo op. Some of them are trendy, some are not, and I’m going to be honest about all of them.

  2. Sey CoffeeCafe · BushwickTheir light roasts are some of the best in the entire city.
  3. Partners CoffeeCafe · WilliamsburgThis is my “I just need a solid latte and a place to sit” pick.
  4. Cafe GrumpyCafe · GreenpointTheir pour-over is consistently one of the best in Brooklyn.
  5. Oslo Coffee RoastersCafe · WilliamsburgBut the coffee is outstanding.
  6. AP CafeCafe · BushwickAP Cafe is where I go when I need to park myself for three hours and get actual work done.
  7. Supercrown Coffee RoastersCafe · BushwickThe cold brew here is the best I’ve had in the borough.
  8. Cha Cha MatchaCafe · WilliamsburgCha Cha Matcha actually makes a really good matcha latte, and sometimes that’s what I want.
  9. Blue Bottle CoffeeCafe · WilliamsburgBut the Williamsburg location, set inside an old warehouse space, is still one of my favorite places to drink coffee in Brooklyn.
  10. Roberta's CafeCafe · BushwickThe outdoor space is one of the best in Bushwick.
