The list, in my order
9 I’d go back to and 1 only if it suits you. My verdict on every one, and the ones nearby from my other lists.
Devocion

- Cost$6-$7
- Address69 Grand St, Williamsburg
- From my guide, updated May 2026.
69 Grand St, Williamsburg
If you’ve seen a photo of a Brooklyn coffee shop with a massive living wall of green plants and sunlight pouring through a glass ceiling, that’s Devocion. It looks like a greenhouse that happens to serve coffee. And the coffee is actually great, which is not always a given with places this photogenic.
They source directly from Colombia and roast on-site. The single-origin pour-over is what I get. It’s bright, complex, and worth the $6.
The downside? Everyone knows about it. Weekend mornings are packed, and finding a seat takes patience. Go on a weekday before 9 AM if you want the full experience without elbowing someone for a table.
Also, it’s not cheap. A single-origin pour-over will run you $6 to $7, and if you add a pastry you’re looking at $15 before you’ve even started your day. Worth it? I think so. But your wallet should be warned.
Sey Coffee
- Address18 Grattan St, Bushwick
- From my guide, updated May 2026.
18 Grattan St, Bushwick
Sey is the kind of place where the barista will tell you about the altitude the beans were grown at, and you’ll actually care. Their light roasts are some of the best in the entire city. Not Brooklyn. The city.
The space is minimal. White walls, clean lines, nothing extra. It feels like an art gallery that smells incredible. Order the filter coffee. Whatever the seasonal single-origin is, just say yes.
Fair warning. The vibe here leans serious. If you want cozy and chatty, this isn’t it. But if you want perfect coffee in a quiet room, Sey is the answer.
Partners Coffee

- AddressMultiple Brooklyn locations (Williamsburg, Park Slope, Downtown Brooklyn)

Multiple Brooklyn locations (Williamsburg, Park Slope, Downtown Brooklyn)
Partners used to be Toby’s Estate, and the name change confused people, but the coffee stayed good. This is my “I just need a solid latte and a place to sit” pick. No pretension, no attitude, just good drinks and a comfortable room.
The Williamsburg spot on N 6th has great natural light and enough outlets to actually get work done. Their cortado is my go-to. It’s well-balanced, not too acidic, and they don’t rush you out.
Make no mistake. This isn’t the flashiest coffee in Brooklyn. But it’s the one I come back to when I don’t want to think about it.
Cafe Grumpy
- Address193 Meserole Ave, Greenpoint (original location)
- From my guide, updated May 2026.
193 Meserole Ave, Greenpoint (original location)
Yes, Cafe Grumpy was on Girls. Yes, it got famous from that. But the Greenpoint location was excellent before HBO showed up, and it’s still excellent now.
Their pour-over is consistently one of the best in Brooklyn. The baristas know what they’re doing, the beans rotate regularly, and the space has that old-school neighborhood cafe energy that a lot of newer spots try to fake.
They have locations in Park Slope, the Lower East Side, and a few others now. But go to Greenpoint. That’s the one that matters.
Oslo Coffee Roasters
- Address133 Roebling St, Williamsburg
- From my guide, updated May 2026.
133 Roebling St, Williamsburg
Oslo does Norwegian-style coffee, which basically means light roasts done with precision and zero drama. The shop itself is small. Like, really small. Maybe 8 seats on a good day.
But the coffee is outstanding. Their espresso drinks are clean and bright, and they take sourcing seriously without being preachy about it. I order the cappuccino and it makes me unreasonably happy every single time.
Don’t plan to camp out here with your laptop. Get your coffee, find a bench on the street, and enjoy it. That’s the Oslo way.
AP Cafe

AP Cafe is where I go when I need to park myself for three hours and get actual work done.
- Address428 Broadway, Bushwick
- From my guide, updated May 2026.
Supercrown Coffee Roasters
- Address185 Morgan Ave, Bushwick
- From my guide, updated May 2026.
185 Morgan Ave, Bushwick
Supercrown is a Black-owned roastery doing some of the most interesting coffee in Brooklyn right now. Their beans are thoughtfully sourced, and you can taste the difference. This is not generic third-wave coffee. It has personality.
The cold brew here is the best I’ve had in the borough. Full stop. Rich, smooth, and dangerously easy to drink fast. Their espresso drinks are also excellent.
The space is chill and welcoming, which is more than I can say for some of the cooler-than-thou spots around the neighborhood. The people behind the counter are friendly, the music is good, and it feels like a place that wants you to be there. Go support them. Seriously.
Cha Cha Matcha
- Address373 Graham Ave, Williamsburg
- From my guide, updated May 2026.
373 Graham Ave, Williamsburg
Look. I know. The pink walls. The influencer crowd. The fact that everything is designed to be photographed. I get the eye rolls. But Cha Cha Matcha actually makes a really good matcha latte, and sometimes that’s what I want.
Their ceremonial-grade matcha is high quality, and the oat milk version is creamy without being too sweet. If you’re a matcha person, you’ve probably already been here. If you’ve been avoiding it because of the vibes, give it one shot.
Will I sit here and work for two hours? No. Will I grab a matcha on a Saturday walk? Absolutely. Their coconut matcha is weirdly addictive too, if you’re feeling adventurous.
Blue Bottle Coffee

- Address160 Berry St, Williamsburg
- From my guide, updated May 2026.
160 Berry St, Williamsburg
Blue Bottle is a chain now. It’s owned by Nestle. I know all this. But the Williamsburg location, set inside an old warehouse space, is still one of my favorite places to drink coffee in Brooklyn.
The single-origin drip is excellent, the space is airy and gorgeous, and the New Orleans iced coffee is dangerously addictive. I get it at least twice a month and refuse to feel bad about it.
Plenty of people will tell you to skip the chains and go indie only. And I respect that. But this particular location in this particular building earns its spot on the list. The ceilings are massive, the light is beautiful in the morning, and there’s room to breathe. It doesn’t feel like a chain when you’re sitting in it.
Roberta's Cafe

- Address261 Moore St, Bushwick
- From my guide, updated May 2026.
261 Moore St, Bushwick
You probably know Roberta’s for the pizza. And yes, the pizza is incredible. But the cafe side of the operation is its own thing and worth a visit on its own terms.
The outdoor space is one of the best in Bushwick. Covered, a little rough around the edges, and genuinely fun to sit in during the warmer months. The coffee is solid, and there’s something about drinking an espresso in a place that also has a wood-fired pizza oven ten feet away.
My move? Coffee first, pizza for lunch. It’s a whole morning plan, and I am not ashamed of it.
