Blue Bottle is a chain now. It’s owned by Nestle. I know all this. But the Williamsburg location, set inside an old warehouse space, is still one of my favorite places to drink coffee in Brooklyn.

The single-origin drip is excellent, the space is airy and gorgeous, and the New Orleans iced coffee is dangerously addictive. I get it at least twice a month and refuse to feel bad about it.

Plenty of people will tell you to skip the chains and go indie only. And I respect that. But this particular location in this particular building earns its spot on the list. The ceilings are massive, the light is beautiful in the morning, and there’s room to breathe. It doesn’t feel like a chain when you’re sitting in it.
