Worth it
  • Address189 Spring St, New York, NY 10012
  • From my guide, updated September 2026.

Dominique Ansel is a must for the famous, cult-following cronut. The cronut is a mix between a croissant and a donut. Run, don’t walk. The popularity of the cronut is. So extreme that the bakery runs out within hours. But surprisingly, the line doesn’t stop. Folks wrap around the block, waiting to get a treat (any treat) from this acclaimed bakery.

The reason why the cronut is among the best fall treats in NYC (aside from the obvious) is the fact that the flavors rotate every month and never repeat. That’s right! For the past decade, Dominique Ansel (the genius behind this innovative treat) has created a new flavor every month to keep New Yorkers and visitors on their toes. Until the flavor is out, we have no way of preparing you for it because we have yet to try it!

Worth it, says Antonina. Been? Say if you agree.

Dominique Ansel Bakery is a must for NYC’s best donuts, especially the cult-favorite cronut, a incredible blend of croissant and donut. The demand is so high that they sell out within hours, yet the line keeps growing with eager visitors hoping to get their hands on any treat. What sets the cronut apart? Besides its obvious appeal, the flavors change monthly, ensuring a unique experience. For the past 9 years, Dominique Ansel has consistently crafted new, inventive flavors, never repeating!

If you’re looking for the best hot chocolate in NYC make a beeline for Dominique Ansel. I first visited for the world-famous cronut and left with a handful of irresistible baked goods and a picturesque hot chocolate.

The hot chocolate is not only incredibly tasty, it’s beautiful to look at too. It’s topped with a marshmallow in. When the chocolate melts, a blossoming flower appears atop your cocoa. You’ll be hard pressed to find a more charming hot chocolate in NYC.
