Eataly (200 5th Avenue, Flatiron) is part food hall, part Italian grocery, part restaurant, and all overwhelming in the best way. It’s massive. You could spend an hour just wandering through the different sections.
The pasta counter is the move. You sit at a counter and eat freshly made pasta for $16-22, and it’s as good as most Italian restaurants in the city. The pizza counter is also excellent. The gelato is the real thing.
Fair warning. Eataly is not cheap. The grocery section will tempt you into spending $40 on olive oil and fancy crackers. I speak from experience. Multiple experiences.
200 Fifth Avenue, at 23rd Street. I know, 15 minutes is a real walk. But if you have the time, Eataly is a massive Italian food hall with multiple restaurants, a wine bar, fresh pasta counters, and a rooftop restaurant. You can grab a $6 slice of Roman-style pizza or sit down for a full pasta dinner ($18 to $28 per plate).
It’s a bit of a trek from Times Square, but it’s near other great food options and the walk down Broadway is pleasant. Consider it if you have time before or after your show.
