If you have a lot of mouths to feed, I suggest making reservations at Carmine’s, one of the best restaurants open on New Years Day in NYC. The restaurant serves all the typical Italian fared food, from pasta to Tiramisu. But what truly sets them apart is the portion sizes.

Carmine’s doesn’t play around when it comes to family style dining, so this is one of those “don’t let your eyes be bigger than your stomach” situations. The reason? Your meal is intended to feel like an Italian wedding’s feast. The place is usually busy (which is a good sign) and the service is great. Oh! And don’t even think about skipping out on the the crispy garlic bread, you must order it!

Carmine’s is a New York City mainstay that has been around for more than three decades. Catering to family style dining, it’s a perfect Thanksgiving dinner restaurant in NYC. In fact, their Thanksgiving dinner feast is meant for groups of 6-8 people, and can be enjoyed as take-out or dine-in experience.

Turkey, Brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes and gravy cover the table making it hard to know where to start. Plus, since the flagship location is located centrally in Times Square I’d recommend planning to watch a Broadway show afterwards because you’ll be too stuffed to walk.
