Best affordable Michelin restaurants in New York, 2026.

There are currently 70 Michelin starred restaurants in New York City and the variety spans the gamut. I mean, we have the usual suspect, those with impossibly-long wait-lists and price tags that can make your eyes water. But we also have a few gems that won’t break the bank.

1

Gramercy Tavern

RestaurantGramercy Park
Worth it
Gramercy Tavern
  • Cost$95-$168
  • Address42 E 20th St, New York, NY 10003
  • From my guide, updated February 2024.

Gramercy Tavern offers affordable Michelin Star dining in two distinct dining areas, which the restaurant refers to as the tavern and the dining room. The tavern serves traditional American fare à la carte, including one of the best burgers in NYC with smoked onion aioli ($35) and a rotating selection of mouthwatering desserts, all under $20.

The dining room offers a seasonal menu with ingredients sourced from local green markets, with a four-course lunch option for $95 or a five-course dinner option for $168; wine pairings are also available for $65 and $125, respectively.

2

Tuome

RestaurantEast Village
Worth it
  • Cost~$100 per person
  • Address536 E 5th St, New York, NY 10009
  • From my guide, updated February 2024.

The head chef behind Tuome, Thomas Chen, has some heavy-hitting experience. He previously worked at three-star restaurant Eleven Madison Park and two-star Jean-Georges. In Tuomo, Chen has helped pioneer casual fine dining, and its unpretentious approach has helped Tuome become one of the most affordable Michelin Star restaurants in New York City.

As a first-generation Chinese-American, Chef Chen’s menu blends American fare with Asian influences. The small dinner menu has an average entree price of $42, with the lone outlier being a $69 dish meant for two people. By no means is Tuome cheap, but between an appetizer, entree, and dessert, you’re roughly spending $100 a person, a good deal by Michelin Star (and New York City) prices.

Crown Shy

RestaurantFinancial District
Worth it
  • Cost$20-$45
  • Address70 Pine Street Ground Floor, New York, NY 10005
  • From my guide, updated February 2024.

Chef James Kent is a remarkable talent, overseeing two Michelin Star restaurants in the same building. Saga boasts two stars, and one-star Crown Shy offers a gateway to affordable Michelin Star dining in NYC. The menu is a-la-carte so you can order as much or as little as you’d like!

The complimentary bread Crown Shy brings to each table is top-notch. As far as the menu is concerned, it rotates with the seasons and dinner entrees range between $20 and $45. The lone exception is the short rib, which clocks in at an imposing $105. Cocktails and wine hover around $20.

Jeju Noodle Bar

RestaurantGreenwich Village
Worth it
  • Cost$23-$45
  • Address679 Greenwich St, New York, NY 10014
  • From my guide, updated February 2024.

Lovers of Asian cuisine need to make a bee line towards Jeju Noodle Bar, a Korean restaurant that’s one of the most affordable Michelin Star restaurants in New York City. In fact, Jeju Noodle Bar is the only Michelin Star noodle restaurant in the United States! They make ramyun, which is similar to ramen.

Main courses are priced anywhere between $23 and $45, with the $150 rack of lamb being the exception. But Jeju Noodle Bar also shines with their appetizers, but with prices between $13 and $55 they need to be budgeted. The Jeju fried chicken ($31) and Toro ssam bap ($55) are crowd favorites.

5

Semma

RestaurantGreenwich Village
Worth it
  • Costunder $50
  • Address60 Greenwich Ave, New York, NY 10011
  • From my guide, updated February 2024.

New York City’s only Michelin Star Indian restaurant, Semma, is a West Village destination. The restaurant shines a spotlight on South-Indian fare, which is rare in America. The ambiance is lively and can get a little loud, but it’s one of the most affordable Michelin-starred restaurants in New York City, so folks are excited.

All dishes (save for one) are under $50, and there’s plenty to choose from that are sub-$40. The lone exception is the $140 Kanyakumari Nandu Masala, or Dungeness crab for two (which must be pre-ordered when booking reservations). The Gunpowder Dosa ($21) is a rice and lentil crepe that’s developed a loyal fanbase and is a can’t-miss item on the menu.

Casa Mono

RestaurantGramercy Park
Worth it
  • Cost$35 and under
  • Address52 Irving Pl, New York, NY 10003
  • From my guide, updated February 2024.

Casa Mono doesn’t immediately look like a Michelin Star restaurant, but the Spanish restaurant teaches us that appearances can be deceiving. Its had a Michelin Star restaurant for 14 years! Like most Spanish restaurants, tapas (appetizers) are the name of the game at Casa Mono.

This is one of the most affordable Michelin Star restaurants in New York City for groups of friends, since it’s easy to load up on tapas and share. All the dishes are $35 and under. The only one that’s more expensive is the Jamon Iberíco, which clocks in at $52. The must-order dish is the bone marrow with trout roe ($35), you’ll be grinning from ear to ear after a single bite.

7

Oxomoco

RestaurantGreenpoint, Brooklyn
Worth it
  • Cost~$20
  • Address128 Greenpoint Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11222
  • From my guide, updated February 2024.

Oxomoco, a Greenpoint gem founded in 2018, provides NYC with affordable Michelin Star Mexican food. The restaurant boasts a coveted star and keeps things approachable. Skip the white tablecloths; here, wood-fired dishes like tacos, tostadas, and tlayudas reign, making it feel like a Michelin-star barbecue.

Chef Justin Bazdarich creates culinary masterpieces, drawing inspiration from all corners of Mexico. Even the tortillas are house-made with organic, heirloom corn, a fun fact reflecting their commitment to quality. Most dishes average around $20, but the grilled Berkshire pork chop ($55) and American wagyu bavette ($75) are splurge-worthy options.

63 Clinton

RestaurantLower East Side
Worth it
  • Cost$112
  • Address63 Clinton St, New York, NY 10002
  • From my guide, updated February 2024.

Despite its unassuming exterior (former pizzeria!), 63 Clinton has snagged a Michelin star thanks to Chef Samuel Clonts’ culinary magic. The tasting menu ($112 for seven courses) is the star of the show and provides a journey through globally inspired flavors.

With items like hamachi with shiso pepper, juicy chicken roulade in miso-mole sauce, or even caviar hand rolls, the restaurant keeps folks coming back for more ingenious bites. The wine pairing, available for $75, isn’t to be overlooked either; Raymond Trinh draws on his experience at three-star Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare to find the perfect additions to the dinner courses.

9

Jua

RestaurantFlatiron District
Worth it
  • Cost$140
  • Address36 E 22nd St, New York, NY 10010
  • From my guide, updated February 2024.

Jua, a modern Korean gem in the Flatiron District, isn’t just delicious, it’s Michelin-approved without burning a hole in your wallet. Opened in 2019, Chef Ho Young Kim serves up a 7-course tasting menu for $140, highlighting classic Korean flavors with a New York edge.

Think smoky Korean jook with eel, crisp seaweed cradling tuna tartare and caviar, or melt-in-your-mouth galbi with housemade kimchi. Bonus points for the open kitchen, where you can witness the culinary magic live! The $100 wine pairing is also worth the added expense, highlighting different notes in each course.

10

The Four Horsemen

RestaurantWilliamsburg, Brooklyn
Worth it
  • Costunder $45
  • Address295 Grand St, Brooklyn, NY 11211
  • From my guide, updated February 2024.

The Four Horsemen in Williamsburg stands out as both a popular NYC wine bar and an affordable Michelin Star restaurant. They offer an impressive menu with ingenious dishes (like braised leek toast with whipped ricotta) that are all under $45. They also have a curated 55-page wine list featuring natural and orange wines, with most glasses costing less than $20.

However, The Four Horsemen is one of the hardest reservations to get in New York City. They become available 30 days in advance at 7 AM and rarely last more than a few minutes before being claimed. The restaurant also saves spots at the bar for walk-ins, but there’s usually a considerable wait.
